It’s been forty years since Gremlins™ was released! To celebrate, let’s take a walk down memory lane and remember all of the unique details that make this classic one that we not only come back to year after year, but that has inspired our new Gremlins x Jimmy Lion Collection!

A Look Back at Gremlins™

With its sparkling lights and dusting of snow, Kingston Falls is an idyllic small town – until the Gremlins take over. When Rand returns from Chinatown with an unusual pet, a Mogwai – a gift for his son Billy – he never expects what’s about to unfold. Why would he? The rules are simple! 

1. Don’t get your Mogwai wet.
2. Keep him away from bright lights.
3. And, most importantly, never – never – feed him after midnight. 

But, as with most kids and their first pets, the rules fly out of the window resulting in the mayhem we all know and love.

The Heart of Gremlins™

At the heart of this cult classic is a story we can all relate to: being a kid and being told you can’t do something. Luckily, Billy has the sweet Mogwai, Gizmo, at his side throughout all of his adventures. Stripe, on the other hand, is the mischievous and cunning leader of the Mogwai, spawned from Gizmo. He never misses an opportunity to bully or torment his sweet counterpart. Constantly scheming, Stripe leads his fellow Mogwai to transmogrify (read: transform) into destructive Gremlins bent on bringing Kingston Falls a very un-Merry holiday season.

A Lasting Legacy

Beyond its impact on moviegoers everywhere, Gremlins™ also left a lasting mark on pop culture, inspiring everything from toys and video games to socks and tees. In that vein, we’re excited to pay tribute to the cult classic with our new collection of Gremlins™ socks and t-shirts.
